Cobalt Code Unit is a faction of four young musical ascetics who tirelessly roam the vast expanses of the southern Balkan traditions of improvised and ritual music contemplating the horizons of contemporary jazz, creative free improvisation, psychedelic impressions of African rhythmic languages, and the noise of industrial bustle, mirrored through the prism of avant-garde expression. For now, they have recorded their experiences on two long-playing albums: Rural (2020) and Soilwork (2021), and one video album (The Yadro Concert). Their performances resemble long impromptu off-road drives full of sudden ups, downs, and turns followed by high-speed rampages through the muddy soil of mountain roads fused with peaceful cruising through tame highland expanses, offering an experience of surreal landscapes, meditative melancholy, and tranquility.
