THE SKOPJE CONNECTION
(MKD/Italy)

Initiated by the Italian producer and label owner Enrico Blumer, The Skopje Connection is a trio featuring exceptional musicians from different cultures and backgrounds: a new rising star on the Italian jazz scene Luca Aquino (trumpet and flugerlhorn), a gifted composer and astonishing multi-instrumentalist Dzijan Emin (French horn and melodica), and the youngest in the trio, a guitarist and composer of contemporary music Georgi Sareski (acoustic guitar). Together they create new music, filled with powerful emotions and pure musicianship. Amam, the new album by The Skopje Connection, is released in April, 2009. It was recorded in Skopje, Macedonia, at the Cifte Amam, a Turkish hammam from the XV century, located in the ancient part of the city. This particular hammam boasts beautiful acoustics and an incredible natural reverb, which compliment the 13 tranquil, yet powerful compositions and improvisations on the album. Amam is more than just a creative collaboration between Macedonian and Italian artists. The highly emotional songs, sophisticated sound, fantastic interplay and dream like ambience, are just few of the characteristics that make this album a one-of-a-kind listening experience, containing music that deeply resonates with the human soul. Their performance at 28th Skopje Jazz Festival is live promotion of Amam.
