Zoe Pia is an Italian clarinetist, composer and enthusiastic researcher from Sardinia. Mats Gustafsson is a Swedish reed player, improviser, composer and a stalwart on the Scandinavian free jazz scene. They met each other through a collaboration with Fire! Orchestra in Italy in 2021 and Fire! Defeat 2022 and wants to further deepen the research in duo form. A first duo tour was done in Italy in May 2023, including studio recordings and festival activities. RITE is dealing with improvised music in new forms, structures and directions. The blend is unique. Elements from Sardinian folk music, Sámi Joik, Noise music and harsh electronics, free improvised music, contemporary music, free jazz and more.
